Meet Claire Barker
- Measuring spoons – My little boy has various food allergies and I enjoy baking and adapting our favourite dishes so he can have them too. His particular favourites are dairy free Victoria sponge cake, Yorkshire puddings and Eton mess.
- Birds – I have been terrified of birds for as long as I can remember. I’m happy to share large, open spaces with winged-friends (as long as we both keep our distance), but any that venture into my personal space are the stuff of my nightmares. You’ll never catch me eating food outside at the seaside; I’ve heard the horror stories of hungry seagulls attacking people for a chip butty.
- Coffee – Self-explanatory really. No day is going be good unless it starts with at least two strong, black cups of coffee.
- Notebook – I love stationery. My love extends to fancy pens, pencils, post-it notes; but particularly notebooks. I tend to have quite a few on the go at any one time, of various sizes and styles. My notebooks tend to filled with crazy scribbles, random thoughts and ideas, but I always try to keep the first page neat and tidy!
- Gym card – I do like to visit the gym. You will generally find me in one of three areas; 1.Steam room, 2. Jacuzzi, 3.Café.
- Lists – Probably linked to my collection of stationery, I love a list! Shopping lists, to-do lists, packing lists… on a busy day nothing is more satisfying than crossing tasks off my to-do list.
- Secateurs – I’m a bit of a fair-weather gardener and every summer I dig out the leftovers of the previous year and fill the garden with brightly coloured flowers that I don’t know the names of. None of the colours match so it’s all very haphazard, but I think they look pretty.
- Lip balm – I hate having dry lips, so have acquired a sizeable collection of partially-used lip balms. If I forget to put one in my handbag, I will make an emergency trip to Boots to add a new one to my stash!
- Diamond necklace – My necklace was a gift from my son (and husband!) on my first Mother’s Day since he was born. I never take it off and it is one of my most treasured possessions.
